Thinking Aloud
Trails of Hope
Today's Thinking Aloud features a discussion of Overland Migration in the 19th century, including the Mormon Migration. Specifically, we're going to talk about what the digital age means for the study of this time period. We're joined by Michael N. Landon, who is an archivist for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and co-author with fellow archivist William Slaughter of "Trail of Hope," which was published as a companion volume to the PBS series of the same name. We're also joined by two experts from BYU's Harold B. Lee Library, Susan Fales, curator of digital collections, and Scott Eldredge, Program Manager for Digital Initiatives, who will bring us up to speed on the interface between old manuscripts, diaries, and archival collections and digital technologies.—Original airdate: 7/23/2007
