Great Works Monday: Things Fall Apart
Chinua Achebe's seminal work Things Fall Apart is well known for dealing with the darker side of colonial life. It treats with harsh reality the subjects of national identity, cultural heritage, and colonial influence. Achebe's work was the first of its kind, speaking not only to the hearts of his countrymen but to the entire English-speaking world. Professors Aaron Eastley and Cheri Earl from BYU's English department join Professor Mark Burns from the Humanities department to consider the impact of this novel written half a century and half a world away.—Original airdate: 6/6/2011
