Mark Ptashne is renowned in biology for his discovery of epigenetics, a field which studies genetic master-switches that control a host of downstream gene behaviors.  He also is an accomplished amateur violinist who rehearses, records, and performs regularly on one of his Guarneri or Stradivarius violins.  Today he talks to host Marcus Smith about the relationship between his scientific and musical endeavors.—Original airdate: 5/2/2013
