Thinking Aloud
Cartoonist Ric Estrada (Part I)
Ernest Hemingway encouraged him to pursue an art career. He left his native Cuba for New York to study drawing, color, and design. His unremitting passion through life has been drawing, drawing, and more drawing--a passion that eventually made him one of the most prolific and admired cartoonists and animators. Today and tomorrow, we bring you a two-part interview with Utah resident Ric Estrada, recipient of the Inkpot Award for Lifetime Achievement in comics. Ryan Woodward of the BYU Department of Visual Arts also joins us for this conversation.—Original airdate: 4/10/2008
