Thinking Aloud
Policy Struggles over Utah's San Rafael Swell
In Utah, there's a grand secret that can no longer remain concealed. A tract of territory in the heart of the state, known as the San Rafael Swell, once a hidden gem, is now a magnet with a strong attraction for all kinds of people. The Swell is coveted terrain, for a host of reasons. And when a lot of people are coveting the same thing, that's a recipe for conflict. On today's Thinking Aloud, we visit with Jeffrey Durrant of the BYU Department of Geography to discuss the conflicts over the San Rafael Swell. His book "Struggle Over Utah's San Rafael Swell" is a 2007 publication of the University of Arizona Press.—Original airdate: 10/29/2007
