She Wore a Yellow Ribbon - a Cavalry Display

The Fort Douglas Museum, 32 Potter Street, Fort Douglas, Utah presents a new exhibit titled ""She Wore a Yellow Ribbon: The U.S. Cavalry in the American West 1857-1943"". On display through the end of July is a large collection of rare Cavalry uniforms, equipment, weapons and saddles . Wayne Thiebaud: 70 Years of Painting

American realist Wayne Thiebaud lived for a time in southern Utah. The Springville Museum of Art, 126 E 400 S, welcomes him back with some of the multi-sensory paintings that have made him famous. Historic St. George Live Summer Tours

Now through August 30th, visitors to St. George will have a chance to ""meet"" Brigham Young, Erastus Snow, Orson Pratt, Jacob Hamblin and Judge John Menzies Macfarlane as part of the Historic St George LIVE! Tours. Guests will interact with the five pioneer settlers Tuesdays through Saturdays, except July 4th and 24th as tours begin at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the Pioneer Center for the Arts plaza, Main Street and 200 North in St. George. Tickets at $3 are available the day of the tour at the Art Museum. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult. Tours take about two hours. Bus transportation is provided. Salt Lake Choral Artists 2nd Summer Choral Institute

The Salt Lake Choral Artists proudly invites singers of all ages and backgrounds to attend the 2nd Annual Summer Choral Institute offering a variety of choral workshops and camps through the summer. Sessions include ""Folk Music from Around the World,"" July 10-13; ""Peace and Paradise: Requiems by Fauré and Rutter,"" August 7-9; and ""Choral Masterworks"" July 8, 15, and August 5. Dismantling Geneva Steel at BYU Museum of Art

The BYU Museum of Art presents ""Dismantling Geneva Steel"", an exhibition of photographs by Chris Dunker. For three years, Logan-based photographer Dunker documented the advancing destruction of the Geneva Steel Works in Vineyard, Utah. His photographic elegy of an industry that shaped life in Utah County through the 20th Century is displayed at the BYU Museum of Art through November 1st. Utah Symphony and Gilbert&Sullivan

The Utah Symphony and Opera presents ""A Tribute to Gilbert and Sullivan"" Friday, August 8th at 7:30 pm. This performance replaces Friday and Saturday performances of ""HMS Pinafore"" because UDOT construction will close I-80 for 24 hours on Saturday, the 9th. The Friday tribute will include highlights from ""The Mikado"", ""Pirates of Penzance"", ""The Gondoliers"", and ""HMS Pinafore"". Construction is expected to be completed in time for scheduled Deer Valley appearances by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir August 15th and Gladys Knight with the USO August 16th at 7:30 pm. Volunteer Ushers Wanted

Through August 31st, the Salt Lake County Center for the Arts recruits volunteer ushers for the fall/winter season. Ushers take tickets, check coats, hand out programs and show patrons to their seats at all events held at Abravanel Hall, Capitol Theatre and Rose Wagner Center for performances by the Utah Symphony and Opera, Ballet West, Broadway in Utah, RDT, Ririe Woodbury Dance Company, Gina Bachauer Piano Competition, Plan-B Theatre, and others. AFTERIMAGE: The Art of Project 337

The Salt Lake Art Center, 20 S. West Temple, is hosting eight special screenings of ""Afterimage: The Art of 337"", a documentary of ""The 337 Project"" by the Dada Factory, produced by Davey Davis and Alex Haworth. The Deer Valley Music Festival, the Music School, 350 E. State, American Fork, and the Utah Symphony, present “Summer Youth Symphony Summit” at the Eccles Performing Arts Center, 1750 Kearns Blvd, Park City, June 30th through August 2nd. Obesity Documentary Screening for Charity

The makers of “Killer at Large”, a documentary film on obesity, are holding a special fundraising screening Wednesday, July 9th at 6:30 pm at The Tower Theater, 876 E. 900 S., Salt Lake City. Payson Scottish Festival

The 25th Annual Payson Scottish Festival and Highland Games will be held Thursday through Saturday, July 10th through 12th Memorial Park in Payson. The Payson Scottish Festival is a free, community sponsored event for the whole family. Events begin Thursday night with a special ceilidh (a traditional Gaelic social dance) to mark this 25th anniversary.
